Tim Guilford, M.D.
Dr. Guilford graduated from Johns Hopkins University and the University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed two years of general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and an ENT surgery residency at the University of Michigan. Dr. Guilford has been in clinical practice since 1979. In 1985 he introduced complementary medical approaches into his practice. The concept that chronic inflammation functions as a causative factor in illness became apparent while he was the director of a laboratory specializing in in-vitro allergy and viral immunology testing (1982-1992). He began using metal detoxification methods in 1995, and research into the toxicity of mercury lead to the observation that glutathione is critical in the defense against heavy metals.
Carolyn M. Pierini, CLS (ASCP), CNC
Ca rol y n Pierini is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist, certified with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and a specialist in medical microbiology. Her 19 years at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Ca. include the Departments of Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology but predominately the Microbiology Department including R&D and educator. Observing different dietary effects on microbial morphology with what is now termed nutrigenomic science, her passion transferred to human nutrigenomics. Applying her biochemistry background to functional medicine has led to uncovering innovative applications for laboratory science such as analyzing standard blood/urine chemistries for patterns related to nutrition, metabolism and potential pathology. She earned a Masters with the Institute for Human Individuality and is a member of the American Society for Microbiology.
Eric Hassid, M.D.
D r. Hassid received his medical degree from George Washington University and completed his neurology residency with the United States Army. He also completed a rehabilitation neurology fellowship at UCLA. Dr. Hassid has extensive continuing education in the area of functional medicine and is board certified in neurology as well as antiaging and regenerative medicine. Dr. Hassid is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Society of Neurorehabilitation, the Movement Disorder Society, the Institute for Functional Medicine, and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Hassid recently worked for Sutter West Medical Group, The Permanente Medical Group and the United States Army Medical Corps, where he was instrumental in developing interdisciplinary neurological rehabilitation, motor control management and pain management programs Dr. Hassid's professional interests include general neurology, disorders of motor control, balance and gait disorders, neurological-based pain syndromes and functional medicine.
Jef frey Reinhardt, M.Sc., Chief Science Officer
Jef frey brings his academic training in the life sciences at Rutgers University and over thirty years of experience in the natural products industry to Vitamin Research Products. Jeffrey has a diverse background in academic, industrial and agricultural research, product development, and regulatory and legal affairs. He is a co-recipient of the American Academy of Dermatology Gold Medal Award for Original Research for his work in defining the roles of nutrition and stress on the immune system and skin disorders. As Chief Science Officer, Jeffrey provides scientific rationales for the design of state-ofthe-ar t formulations to support high level wellness, resistance to stress and chronic degenerative disease.
Frank Shalle berger, M.D. n
Dr. Shallenberger has been practicing medicine for over 30 years. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and received post graduate training at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco. He has devoted his thirtyyear professional career to understanding the fundamentals of why we age and get sick, and what keeps us well. Dr. Shallenberger is a pioneer in the clinical application of the use of ozone in medicine, a discipline that emphasizes the profound importance of oxygen and energy production in health and longevity. Dr. Shallenberger is a specialist in AntiAging Medicine, and is board certified by the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine. Chris D. Meletis, N.D.
D r. Meletis has served as the Chief Medical Officer and Dean of Naturopathic Medicine for the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) for seven years and subsequently served as the NCNM's Senior Science Officer. In his many roles, he represented the NCNM in the areas of scientific publication, media relations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) and state mandated pain management program participation. Dr. Meletis has served as the Chairman of International Association of Naturopathy--Japan, a title he has held since June 2004. Dr. Meletis is an internationally recognized expert in his field and is the author of 14 books and more than 200 nationally published health and wellness articles. Gar y L. Ailes, DVM
Since joining the Veterinary Orthopedic Society in 1975, Dr. Ailes has become known for his extensive veterinary orthopedics skills. He was involved with the formation of the Association of Veterinary Orthopedics for Research and Education (AVORE), serving as president in 1989, and has been involved with research on various approaches to joint and fracture repair. Dr. Ailes is instrumental in VRP's pet division, sharing his immense knowledge about animals with our customers.
